DUCKWORTH TROPHY. 36 holes medal play over successive Saturdays in memory of Harry Duckworth, a past President from 1931 – 45.
Prizes for 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th over 36 holes and best net in Round 1 and Round 2.

Harry Duckworth.
Contrary to popular belief, Harry Duckworth was not a founding Member and joined Worsley Golf Club two years after the club was founded.
In 1899, he stood for election to the Council and was successful. He was only a council member for a year when H. Stafford. Golland who had been secretary since the beginning, was proposed to be the next captain of the club. Harry was persuaded to take his place and held the post for the next eleven years.
Mr Duckworth was appointed President in 1931, a post he retained for fifteen years - only the third Earl of Ellesmere held it longer.

Jim was the honorary secretary from 1972 until 1979 when he gave up the post after being proposed as Captain.
Jim was elected President in 1987. As Hon. Secretary, Captain and President, he served the club for many years with distinction and often entertained the members with his talent for after dinner speaking.
He died in 1991.
